About M.A.R.B.L.E.S. percussion
Established in 2020, M.A.R.B.L.E.S. percussion is a chamber percussion group named after the initials of seven members: Michael, Alvin, Rainbow, Bevis, Lauren, Eugene, and Sunny. The septet met through their studies in The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, where they played numerous concerts with each other, developing ensembleship and gaining intimacy. Members of M.A.R.B.L.E.S. percussion share the same values on music-making, and are devoted to promote the beauties of humanity – collaboration, trust, and equality through high-quality percussion chamber music.
The ensemble is active in local music events such as Day of Percussion 2017 held by Percussive Arts Society Hong Kong Chapter, and Sha Tin Drum Festival 2018 as celebration of the 20th anniversary of the HKSAR. In 2019, the ensemble was invited by Hong Kong Arts Festival to perform Varese’s Ionisation with Li Biao and Li Biao’s percussion group.
Members of the group were participants of the Sō Percussion Summer Institute 2019, where they performed with chamber musicians from all around the world in Princeton, New Jersey. The ensemble presented their first concert “Ritual” in 2018 and their second concert “M.A.R.B.L.E.S.” in 2019.
